Tatanka
Tatanka
“Tatanka is a record that manages to pay homage to its roots, deliver a couple catchy singles, as well as define Tatanka’s sound as an out of the mold band that is pushing the reggae-rock genre to a new place.” -Tommy Dubs, The Pier

Tatanka encapsulates the heavy roots rumble of the Caribbean, while maintaining the pop sensibilities of the dance-oriented electronic sounds from the Britannica-American reggae scenes. These sounds are what fueled the groups newest album,’Tatanka‘. Written over the span of a year and a half, Tatanka recorded their self-titled album at Imperial Sound in San Diego. Reggae rocker Ted Bowne from PASSAFIRE and roots magician The Maad T-Ray of Tribal Seeds feature on a counter-culture wake up call entitled “The Yard”. Jamaican sing-jay Triston Palmer is heard on a bouncy number labeled “Give Green“. The tune pays homage to never giving up and believing in yourself. En Young of Tribal Seeds can also be heard throughout the album. The album debuted at #1 on the iTunes reggae charts and #4 on Billboard’s reggae charts. The positive lyrics and heavy sounds garnered radio air-play all around the globe.

Tatanka’s ‘Sounds In Technicolor‘ EP has racked up over 20,000 downloads and has attributed to the flourishing fan base. This recognition has led to tours across the US and Canada with acts such as Tribal Seeds, Stick Figure, Lee Scratch Perry, Fortunate Youth, Easy Star Allstars, Passafire, and more. In conjunction with a heavy tour schedule, Tatanka has also played a multitude of festivals including California Roots, Powell-a-Palooza, Desert Rocks, Arise, and a plethora of others.

Formed in Denver Colorado by a few college friends, Tatanka has been recognized as “Breakout Artist of the Year” (2014) by The Pier, High Times “Unsigned Band of the Month” (September 2011), and nominated by Westword magazine for “Colorado’s Reggae/Jam Band of the Year” (2015). With 2015 providing a large amount of clout, Tatanka will be releasing a remix album of their self-titled record as well as several new singles.

Tatanka’s infectious live show is the bridge between the band and the fans. It unifies the crowd with a progressing, pulsing, and positive perspective. Tatanka is always looking to further instill a global vision of unity with their pounding, dynamic sounds and peaceful, harmonious message.

Spred The Dub
Spred The Dub
Formed in 2007, Spred The Dub has been keeping crowds dancing with their own brand of “Good Time Reggae” music – infusing elements of soul, funk and R&B with a foundation of rocksteady, ska and roots reggae to create sonic landscapes and massive drum & bass riddems. They have been hard at work making a name for themselves, playing stages all over the country…from local beach bars to club venues, opening for national touring acts like Dirty Heads, The Green, Passafire, and The Movement, as well as reggae legends like The Skatalites, Eek-A-Mouse, Black Uhuru and Yellowman. Their sound is perfect blend of “new style” and “old school” that is sure to get people in the groove!

“Spred the Dub have built a growing fan base since 2007 by downsizing and thinking outside the box. The group’s style is a reggae/dub/ska/ mix culled from influences including Bob Marley, James Brown, The Clash, The Slackers and John Brown’s Body.”

-Bill Meredith, Palm Beach Post

Mick Swigert (aka Micky Vintage) has been providing the reverberated vocals and rhythmic skank that have characterized Spred the Dub’s sound since the earliest days of the group. Kevin “K Jo” Johnson (bass/vocals) and Mike McDermott (drums) are the rhythm section responsible for building the thundering riddems and funky grooves that serve as the rock solid foundation of the group’s songs, and the addition of Sam Szpendyk (trombone/vocals) and Markis Hernandez (saxophone), has brought a dimension to the sound with their powerful brass. Hunter Hutchings (lead guitar) brings his masterful solos and dub effects to the group. Together these players gel into one of the freshest sounds in Florida reggae. Their set list includes a host of well-crafted original songs, which range from upbeat rocksteady rhythms to thick, soul-moving roots jams. These songs coupled with their unique renditions of modern classics and rejuvenated reggae standards, help to create the “Good Time Reggae” vibes.

April 20, 2012 saw the release of their first full-length album of original material and they were featured on the “Reggae Wave” compilation CD along with the best reggae bands in South FL, powered by reggae legends Inner Circle. They released their second album, “Coming’ Home Drunk” in 2015, to incredible reviews. With several major projects in the works, the future for Spred the Dub looks very bright. Recently voted “Best of Florida Reggae 2016” by New Times Magazine, their live show schedule has them performing all over the country. August of 2016 launched their first trip over the pond with a United Kingdom Tour, performing on the incomparable BoomTown Fair stage, bringing Florida ska to new European fans!

And, making sure you can get enough, Spred the Dub will be back in the studio preparing to release their third album in late 2016.
