Joey Gilmore
Joey Gilmore
Joey Gilmore's love affair with the guitar began in his teens. “In the town that I lived in, there was a barbershop,” Gilmore reminisces. “And the barber that owned the shop was a sanctified preacher. He was a minister, and he had this little flat-bodied guitar. It was electric, no amplifier to it. And he would bring it to the shop with him, and he was trying to learn how to play. So, I would get to the barbershop early whenever I would go to get my hair cut, or even after school, I would hang around at the barbershop, because I wanted to get my hands on that guitar. I would take the guitar and they had these old wooden benches. I would lay the guitar on top of the wooden bench and when you would strum the strings, the wood, the bench, would vibrate, and the floor would, the sound would resonate, and you could hear it without the amplifier. I learned just from watching him.” Young Gilmore tried to keep his obsession with the instrument from his church going aunt, who was raising him, but word of the talented boy who played at the barbershop eventually got back to her.”

Decades later and established as a Florida legend, Joey Gilmore provides a highlight at Blues Festivals and night clubs all over the world as one of the best soul-blues and R&B singers in the business. Joey Gilmore has shared the stage with Such Greats As James Brown, Etta James, Bobby Bland, Little Milton, Johnny Taylor and numerous others. David Julia
David Julia
Who is this Kid? He has been performing live since the age of seven,he has played festival's, fund raisers and private parties, even sang the national anthem at an Orlando Magic Basketball game. He had an ongoing weekly gig at his home town resturant for a year at age ten. He's played all over the state of Florida by age twelve. Guitarist singer/songwriter David Julia is quite an accomplished musician at only fourteen years old.

A age twelve he met Ellard-James "Moose" Boles (Lou Reed's bass player) and was invited to play some blues in Key West Florida, Since then David was all in with the blues. David started taking lessons from master guitarist Ernie Lancaster. As David was honing his skills with his new mentor and friend, Ernie suddenly passed from cancer. Sadden by the passing of his friend David promised to make him proud through music. He started playing at The AlleyBlues club in Sanford, Florida where Ernie once frequented. Continuing to hone his skills and learn Blues from seasoned bluesmen Maurice Fields, Auggie Bassman and Doc Williamson.

David reached out to Blues artist Mark Telesca at the world famous "Funky Biscuit" in Boca Raton, Florida. At the Funky Biscuit David continued his growth and love of blues with help from his new friend and became a regular at the Funky Biscuit. Mark saw something in David and placed him on stage with world class blues musicians and watched as David not only held his own but shined. Scheduled to compete in the international blues competition in Memphis Tennessee Mark suggested David go observe and learn as much as he can. David not only went he had an opportunity show his ability and again he shined. In Memphis after performing on the iconic Rum Boogie Cafe stage he was approached by a member of the Blues Foundation about generation blues for young blues musicians.

In Memphis David went to see one of his favorite blues musicians perform Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters long time guitar player) whom he had meet previously at the Funky Biscuit. He was explained that Bob was holding a "Chicago Blues" workshop at Jorma Kaukonen's Fur Peace Ranch in Ohio and Generation blues would sponsor him. Getting a chance to learn from Bob Margloin was an opportunity David just could not pass up. At the ranch David had the added pleasure of sitting in on a class with blues icon Doug Macleod as well. After an amazing week of music David was inspired by the teachings he received from Bob and Doug to finish up some music he was working on and record his first EP.

Twelve to fifteen hour days in Tru-Noyz studio's Ft. Lauderdale, Florida recording for the first time David was in his element. He was a natural, with his friends Mark Telesca producing and playing bass guitar, Albert Poliak on keys B-3 (owner of the Funky Biscuit) and Chris Peet (Southern Hospitality and JP Soars) on drums made for quite an experience for the young blues artist. To David's surprise Mark invited one of David's Guitar idols and master blues man Matt Schofield to stop by during the session for some coaching and encouragement.

At only fourteen David has been fortunate enough to share the stage with some of the best blues artists around today. He has played with Bob Margolin, Matt Schofield, Albert Castigila, Eliza Neals, Betty Fox, Joey Gilmore, Selwyn Birchwood and many more. Look for David's EP to be released around the first of November 2015 and him promoting it there after!!

JL Fulks
JL Fulks
Jeffrey Lynn Fulks Jr. now known as JL Fulks was born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1990. At age 13, he began playing guitar, after being inspired by his father's love for the blues. JL’s immediate prowess with the instrument led to him joining The Praise Band at a local Christian Academy. When his father noticed his son’s abilities, he gave him the Stevie Ray Vaughan album "Texas Flood" and told him, "If you're going to play guitar, play it like that.” Soon after, JL joined an original rock band in high school. The group ended up winning his high school’s “Battle of the Bands.”

In 2009, JL formed a rock band called "Until Next Time", with three musicians from the local music scene. The band was very popular in the Greenville, South Carolina region and eventually won a "Battle of the Bands" competition, sponsored by Gorilla Productions. The band parlayed their success by winning the finals at Greenville's premier music venue "The Handlebar". They were subsequently voted Greenville's best rock band and were awarded free recording time at Sit-n-Spin Studios, as well as a headline opportunity at The Handlebar. Things were looking up for the popular band as several independent labels were interested in signing them, but creative differences among the members led to the band breaking up before any success could be achieved.

Undeterred by the band's break up, JL decided to further his musical knowledge by studying jazz with Adam Knight, an instructor at the University of South Carolina. Under Knight, JL's musical evolution branched out to jazz, blues and other styles. It was blues music that touched him the most. JL started writing his own blues songs and performing them throughout the area for most of 2010.

When his family moved to South Florida in 2011, JL continued his musical education by enrolling with Berklee College of Music's online extension program. This afforded him the opportunity to study with some of the world’s best guitar and music instructors. While studying with Berklee, JL began making a name for himself in South Florida by performing at open jams and sitting in with local bands. JL soon after started performing with a local cover band called "The Flyers" and recorded his first EP "Dixie Highway" with Patrick Farinas.

It wasn't long before his abilities were recognized and JL was being asked to sit in with many national acts. He has shared the stage with such names as: Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Matt Schofield, Chris Duarte, JP Soars and the Red Hots, Rickey Godfrey, Mac Arnold and the Plate Full of Blues Band, Victor Wainwright & The Wildroots, Damon Fowler, Southern Hospitality, Brandon Santini, Boo Boo Davis, David Shelley and Bluestone, Bob Corritore, Jay Stollman, Joey Gilmore, John Nemeth, Terry Hanck, Joey Gilmore, and many more.

Persistence paid off when JL was approached by Brandon Santini in the fall of 2013. After seeing JL perform at the Funky Biscuit one night with David Shelley and Bluestone, Santini asked JL to play guitar for his band. JL relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in December of 2013, after three successful tours to play full-time in Brandon Santini's band.

JL worked as Brandon's right hand man for eight months where he opened the show for Brandon and drove the band as his lead guitarist. He toured the country and headlined with Brandon at many great blues clubs such as Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago, Bradfordville Blues Club, Boston's on The Beach, The Slippery Noodle, The Rum Boogie Cafe, The Blues Hall and many others. Larger showcases became the norm as the band performed at some great blues festivals such as The Daytona Blues Festival, The Springing the Blues Festival, and the Southwest Florida Blues Festival where they opened for legendary blues guitarist Johnny Winter. It didn't take long before JL's guitar playing was noticed by blues editors, writers, and legendary musicians.

After JL's performance at The Southwest Florida Blues Festival, he was told by Johnny Winter's manager that Johnny was impressed by his guitar playing and that he insisted that she come find him immediately and bring him backstage to meet with him. The Blues legend and the young guitar phenom had an encouraging conversation about music and life -- quite an endorsement for young JL Fulks. That night lives on every night he plays his Gibson ES-335 that Johnny Winter signed. Although now, to honor Johnny and to preserve the valued instrument, JL mostly plays a new, Heritage H150 and 535.

After eight great months of touring and performing frequently on world famous Beale Street and gaining invaluable road experience, JL felt it was time to move on to projects of his own and begin work on his new EP. He returned to his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina to begin writing and planning a launch of his own band.

Now, at 26 years old, JL Fulks has already lived the dream that most musicians work their whole lives to achieve. JL has relocated to South Florida and started fronting his own trio again performing at the best clubs and festivals in South Florida. JL continues to collaborate with many artists as he looks to tour nationally. He is also a private guitar instructor and a substitute teacher at the School of Rock in Coral Springs, FL.

JL recently opened for Tab Benoit, Doyle Bramhall ll, Donavon Frankenreiter, Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Robert Randolph & Family Band. He is also appearing on the roster for various festivals throughout Florida in 2016. JL & his band recently won South Florida's Regional Blues Challenge and made it to the Semi-finals in Memphis, Tennessee January, 2016. JL is currently endorsed by Heritage Guitar Inc. of Kalamazoo, MI, and recently released his debut EP "On Down The Road" with Eddie Perez and his Grammy award winning team at @trunoyz. JL Fulks has been nominated for two 2016 IMEA Awards, "Blues Artist of the Year", and "Blues Song of the Year".
Marty Stokes
Marty Stokes
Marty Stokes was originally raised on Sanibel & Captiva Islands, Florida and has been playing different variations of Blues Music since he was a kid. Raw and melodic, original, and reaching to the emotional core, Stokes will not disappoint a good blues audience. . A group of long-time friends, the band 'delivers the goods' with tasteful grooves over Stokes' originals, alongside creative arrangements of covers. Jennifer Mazziotti, Daryl Best and Scott Williams make up the 'core' of the MARTY STOKES BAND. Jennifer Mazziotti, also well known as Jazzy Mazzy has been playing faithfully alongside Marty for the past five years, and laces their sound with wonderful harmonies and jazz overtones. She also double on some B3 keyboard to further enhance their ability to move through a wide range of Blues. Jennifer's artistic contributions are well evident in his lastest CD release as well. Reviews are great on the compositions and engineering of Stokes' first and second CD releases. The first CD entitled HEAR YOU CALLIN' is a collection of mostly Stokes' originals, laced with a few licensed and tastefully arranged covers. Progressive Blues marks the color of this initial bold statement, and listeners have nothing but the best comments to offer. The 2nd CD release is entitled LEAVIN' BLUES, loaded with plenty of hot blues guitar, vocals, and the saxaphone work of Jennifer Mazziotti. Probably the greatest difference between the first and second CD's would be a specific focus on hard core Blues---both style and delivery---and everyone who has heard Stokes' latest work is certainly glad they did !

The MARTY STOKES BAND performs in clubs around Florida, in places like Berts Bar at Matlacha, George and Wendys on Sanibel, Cadillac Jacks in South Ft. Myers, Space 39, Downtown Fort Myers, Englewoods on Dearborn (Bluz Under The Starz), Flounders, BB Kings in West Palm, as well as several other venues. Marty's band has travelled to compete in the annual IBC competions, and placed in both the South Florida, as well as Suncoast Blues Societies---recently winning the Peoples' Choice Award at Yabos in Fort Myers, sponsored by the Southwest Florida Blues Society. Marty Stokes has also wowed audiences in the Blues Festivals of Pine Island, Bonita , and Buckingham. The band also performed at the 2011 Bonita Blues Festival for a 2nd time, receiving the popular vote for 'Favorite Act of 2011'.
