Bone Diggers
Bone Diggers
Initially formed for a one-off at the Chapel in San Francisco in the Fall of 2017, Bone Diggers are taking their jammed-out, dance-ready interpretations of Paul Simon tunes on the road in 2018. Featuring some of the West Coast's biggest names in live improvisation and focusing exclusively on the Paul Simon songbook.
Reed Mathis
Reed Mathis
The mastermind bassist behind Electric Beethoven brings his exciting new project to the Funky Biscuit. Anything Reed Mathis is involved with is sure to push sonic boundaries, fill the spirit with euphoria and remind audiences of the shear power contained in live music. In the past he has blazed trails in collaboration with Roosevelt Collier, Bill Kreutzmann, Steve Kimock, Tea Leaf Green and Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. He will be joined by drummer Scott Rager of Tea Leaf Green and guitarist Clay Welch of Electric Beethoven. The trio promises to siphon some of your favorite songs by the likes of the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and more through a kaleidoscope of radically fresh imagination. On top of that, we can assure you that whatever this band touches will be feverishly funky, rich in complex, rhythmic, jazz-infused sensibilities and likely to venture into the realms of jam-rock in ways you've never conceived.

Danny "Lebo" Lebowitz (ALO * Animal Liberation Orchestra)
Casually aka ALO. California rock band currently signed to Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records label. They have released four full length albums for Brushfire, as well as a number of prior independent releases including a film soundtrack.
Danny Eisenberg (The Mother Hips)
Danny Eisenberg (The Mother Hips)
Guitarist Tim Bluhm co-founded The Mother Hips along with fellow guitarist/singer/songwriter Greg Loiacono while both were studying at Chico State in the early 90’s. Performing at frat parties quickly gave way to club shows, regional touring, and national buzz, and before they’d graduated from school, the band was signed to Rick Rubin’s American Recordings on the strength of their debut album, ‘Back To The Grotto.’ Over the ensuing two-and-a-half decades, they would go on to release eight more studio albums as they cemented their status as architects of a new breed of California rock and roll, one equally informed by the breezy harmonies of the Beach Boys, the funky roots of The Band, the psychedelic Americana of the Grateful Dead, and the soulful twang of The Byrds. Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as “one of the Bay Area’s most beloved live outfits,” their headline and festival performances became the stuff of legend and helped them earn dates with everyone from Johnny Cash and Wilco to Lucinda Williams and The Black Crowes. Rolling Stone called the band “divinely inspired,” while Pitchfork praised their “rootsy mix of 70’s rock and power pop,” and The New Yorker lauded their ability to “sing it sweet and play it dirty.”
Scott Rager (Tea Leaf Green)
Scott Rager (Tea Leaf Green)
Tea Leaf Green (TLG) is a four-piece jam band from the San Francisco Bay Area, composed of Josh Clark (guitar and vocals), Trevor Garrod (keyboards, vocals, guitar, and harmonica), Scott Rager (drums), and Eric DiBerardino (bass). Tea Leaf Green began in the fall of 1996, when Scott Rager met Ben Chambers on the campus of San Francisco State University (SFSU). Chambers was the group's original bass player but left in 2007; he is featured on the band's first four albums. Rager and Chambers began playing together, practicing in Chambers's bedroom in a back house off Church Street in San Francisco's Castro District. In early 1997, Clark, a childhood friend of Rager, moved from the Los Angeles area to San Francisco and became the third member of the band. Garrod, also a SFSU student, joined soon after.
